Entering the garden, you immediately feel how close to the lake you are. The view of the Borromean islands, the blue waters, the romantic garden which is almost two centuries old, and the exceptional specimens of magnolias, camphor trees, camellias and rhododendrons make this place very special and our favourite venue in Lake Maggiore. The 19th century villa stands among the colorful flowers, statues and romantic paths slopind down to the lake. The ground floor of the villa is open for the wedding guests, from the arched entrance portico to the great hall with its scenic staircase. The dining room, the drawing room, the study and the winter garden with its shell decoration and exotic climbing plants. For a glamorous entrance, bride and groom may arrive by boat and tie up at the wooden boat dock. Here, on a lawn surrounded by roses and azaleas they can greet their guests with a cocktails. Wedding receptions are held in the pavilion, a graceful wrought-iron structure reminiscent of the great greenhouses of the late 19th century. |
Set among the trees and flowers and looking directly on to the lake and the jetty the pavilion adds elegance thanks to its wooden floor and fittings of the highest quality. In warm season the pavilion can be left open. In windy or cooler weather the walls can be closed and the interior heated using standalone heaters. Late in the night the party can go on in the old cellars of the villa with brick vaults, old statues, granite pillars and rocaille walls. And to round off the party, a “midnight feast” of pizza or spaghetti - an Italian tradition - can be cooked in the bread-oven of the old kitchen. A unique venue in one of the most magical spots.
